Go Greener Faster Grant

The Winchester City Council’s Go Greener Faster Grant Scheme aims to support not-for-profit organisations to take action in response to the climate emergency. Project funding can be used to help communities become more sustainable and to reduce energy use and carbon emissions. 

An online Advice Clinic is being held to support organisations wishing to apply, on Wednesday 17th January at 1-2pm. Register using the link below.

Climate Neutrality Open Forum – 29th January 6.30pm – Can we step away from the car?

Winchester City Council’s next Carbon Neutrality Open Forum will take place on Monday 29 January from 6.30pm – 8pm. It will be chaired by the Cabinet Member for the Climate Emergency and will feature speakers from Sustrans (Roddy Crockett), Stagecoach (Marc Reddy) and Hampshire County Council (Stewart Wilson) on how we can reduce reliance on private car travel.

Winchester City Council achieves Carbon Literate Organisation Silver Award

Winchester City Council has been recognised for its efforts in training staff about the causes and impacts of climate change and how day-to-day actions in their work and at home can help reduce carbon emissions. 

WCC is one of only 5 local authorities across the UK to be awarded the silver accreditation by the Carbon Literacy Trust.

Free Low Carbon Assessments for Businesses

Winchester City Council is delighted to be working with GEP Environmental to offer businesses in the district a free carbon footprint assessment. This will identify interventions to reduce energy, water, waste and transport emissions, and funding opportunities of between £5,000-£10,000 can then be applied for.

Workplace Travel Network

WCC is inviting local workplaces to join our Travel Network meeting on 16 January. Travel is often the largest contributor to carbon emissions for businesses and large organisations. The meeting will cover available support, transport updates and an opportunity to share tips and advice across workplaces.
